2015 Party Theme Trends | Spring [Part 2]

Parties in the spring and summer aren't just about quaint tea parties and outdoor adventures, some classic party styles such as an all out Glitz and Glamour bash can also be well appreciated, especially when you can wear your favourite dress without freezing in the cold air outside. Party themes also don't have to cover decorations, they can be themes within your guests - something that I want to explore further...

The Glitz and Glamour Party | Diamonds Are Forever
Why not turn up the heat on your party by having a Hollywood inspired Glitz and Glamour party - big hair, extravagant dresses and loud decorations. Parties in the winter are mainly filled with cosy cups of hot chocolate and fondue, or much for traditional bouncing off Christmas. It's not until New Year that the glamour comes back in to our parties - so why not bridge the gap between the fireworks of New Year and the beach parties of summer with a glitzy party in the spring...

The Glitz and Glamour Party Essentials;

All Out Decorations; No glitz and glamour themed party would be complete without giant letter shaped balloons towering over the dance floor letting your guests know that over the top is on the agenda for the evening. Little touches can also make a big difference to a glitz and glamour party - it doesn't all have to be large to be over the top. Adding things as simple as gold or silver ribbon can be incredibly effecting. Two ideas which stand out to me for this kind of party are candle holders in the shape of diamonds, or more extravagant holders for candles, and decorated glasses. If you have some time on your hands or some DIY skills, sticking gems onto champagne or wine classes, or even tumblers can be an effective way to cheaply and quickly glam up your party.

Extravagant Entertainment; When I think of a glitz and glamour party, there are three essentials which I think every party needs - fireworks, a dance floor and a live band. Fireworks are a staple of any big celebration, and having a live band (and obviously somewhere for your guests to dance to them) will give your party that Hollywood, celebrity feel to it. Supporting your local bands, or friends bands, in this case can be a really good idea, as not only are you supporting and helping advertise your local music culture, you will have an incredible experience of a live band without blowing the bank! Not all entertainment has to be loud, however, having something as simple as fancy dress props such as sticks with cut outs of glasses, moustaches and lips on can bring a sense of lightheartedness and fun to your party, and will look great in pictures against all the beautiful dresses and suits.

Fancy Food and Drink; When I think of glamorous party scenes, cocktails and canapés are the two things that spring to mind. Canapés can be made really inexpensively, serving miniature burgers or blinis or bite size sweet treats from large silver trays that are carried around your party (even if it means hiring your little sister to be a waitress for the evening). Cocktails (or mocktails) are also a must for any glitzy party. Having cocktails with decorative pieces can also be a nice addition - and I'm not talking plastic swords or anything tacky - something as simple as a strawberry or a sprig of mint in a drink can give it that extra something and special feel.

Dress to Impress; Think red carpet - which is a good sub theme for your party if you're wanting a more streamlined feel. Big dresses, fancy suits and high hells. Obviously, you don't have to go full red carpet with a long, flowing, lace dress - something as simple as a LBD (little black dress) with some incredible accessories can be perfect for this kind of party. I love these kind of themes, as they really bring people out of their shells and boost their personalities and confidence.

Do Something Different | Guest-Themed Parties
If you're not sure how you want to decorate, or don't want your party to be over the top or sticking to just one theme, there are other ways in which you can keep your guests entertained without having to have a dress code or go all out on decorations. Why not try giving your party a guest theme? For example, giving your guests a task to complete? This will not only get people chatting at your party - which can be good if you have a number of friendship groups attending to get new people talking, but can also give the night an interesting twist. Two of the trends I think will be really fun this spring, and that I want to explore more are - Art Attack parties, and Dare to Dare parties...

The Art Attack Party Essentials;

I think this is a really interesting theme for a party. Get all your guests to wear white clothing (something they don't mind getting ruined with paint) and buy a variety of fabric paints. Place the buckets of paint around your garden and let your guests go wild with them. You could even get large sheets of fabric or paper on the floor or walls for your guests to paint murals on. Not only will this create fantastic fun, but you and your guests will be able to keep momentos of your party afterwards. You can even hand make signs or have balloons filled with paint for people to pop from the ceiling to give it an extra bit of an arty feel. You don't have to use just paints either, you could use decorative ribbons and thread or even wasabi tape or other decorative tape. The atmosphere at this kind of party can be easily replicable in your food - make it vibrant and colourful. There is a fantastic playlist on YouTube by 'yoymax12 - the diet free zone' who makes easy-to-do interesting food - check out her Rainbow Food playlist below (which would be perfect for this kind of party.

The Dare To Dare Party Essentials;

The idea behind a dare to dare party is just that - like a game of truth or dare, only without the truth element. This kind of party can be played in any location (as long as you aren't going to get into trouble for any of your dares) and is perfect for small or big parties where the friendship groups are close and everyone is comfortable with who they are around. Each guest will receive a number of cards, which you can easily make yourself, each with a dare on, which they can dare anyone at the party at any point in the party to do. You could even dare your guests to do things for the party in their invites, like sing karaoke as soon as they arrive, or come dressed in fancy dress or bright coloured clothing. Social media is a brilliant addition to this party also, allowing people one chance each to dare someone to let them Facebook or Tweet etc. from their phone. You could also hide dares around the house (particularly embarrassing or intricate dares even) for people to find as a bonus. The great thing about this party is they your guests will learn so much more about each other and become so much more confident within your friendship group. Decorating and catering for this kind of party is also really simple - it could be anything from takeout to a sit down meal and have as much decoration as you like. Do you dare to host a dare to dare party?

I hope you have enjoyed some of my ideas for what will be trending as party themes in Spring 2015! Do you have any of these kinds of parties planned or any other amazing ideas? Let me know in the comments below!
