Cakes are something that no special occasion would be without - birthdays, anniversaries, graduations - anything! But, sometimes, we can't afford to go all out on a lavish cake, but would like something a little more personal and exciting than the classic caterpillar shaped cake from the supermarket (you all know which one I'm talking about). The fabulous people at Baker Days were kind enough to solve this dilemma for me by sending me one of their letter box chocolate cakes with a fantastic personalised design to taste test and review for them.
My first impression of Baker Days cakes was the adorable box that it got delivered in, with the message 'Just for You' on the cake tin - and a metal one at that, which will definitely come in handy for future gifts or displays. The cake that I chose was their 'Top Dad' design as it's my Dad's birthday soon and I thought that this would make a wonderful present idea for Dad's out there - or indeed anyone. I'm sure he won't mind having his cake a few weeks early!
The design was a really cute design, and was really good quality - I love the range of choice in modern, vintage and old school designs that Baker Days offers, and the ability to personalise your cakes much like the staple occasion card sites like Moonpig, giving this cake suppliers a unique advantage over the competition.
When I received my cake, I also got some essential birthday supplies including two candles, three balloons of different colours and a party blower, which I thought was a fabulous addition to the delivery to give it that personal touch. Plus I always forget to buy candles so this was perfect for me!
Baker Days offers a variety of flavours of cake including the classic favourites of victoria sponge and chocolate. I went for a chocolate cake as it's one of my favourite cakes - delicious and naughty! Baker Days certainly delivered on the devilish chocolate flavours in the cake, with a light, fluffy sponge and a creamy chocolatey filling! I was very impressed that even through such a small cake, the flavour was big!
