Mother's Day is just around the corner! I always try and find something interesting and unique for my Mum for her presents, but I do sometimes struggle as they tend to be more expensive that a gift from the high street. I thought I would share some of my favourite things I have found for unique mother's day gifts this year with you, from three of my favourite unusual gift stores (mainly I find these kinds of things online). I have only included things which cost less than £15, as these gifts are perfect for either a main present, or as a collection of smaller presents - expensive doesn't necessarily mean special! Unless you're buying someone a holiday, I suppose, but as a student that's not going to happen any time soon!

Everybody loved a chocolate brownie, and this gift is perfect for so many different types of mum's, whether she is a cookery fanatic, a baking fanatic, someone who enjoys hosting parties and serving cake or just a mum who enjoys the smell of baking or wants to use this jar as a decorative piece. Chocolate brownies are one of my favourite things, and it's always worth treating yourself once in a while to something naughty that you enjoy! Sometimes you just have those days...and this would be perfect for those. In the mix you get different layers, which I think have been brilliantly put together to make this jar look unique and interesting, containing everything you need to make the perfect oozy chocolate brownies. All you need to do is add eggs and butter! The mix is suitable for vegetarians as well and includes plain flour, caster sugar, soft light brown sugar, cocoa powder, milk chocolate chips, baking powder and salt.
This is probably one of the favourite items that I found, and I was so gutted to find that the letter that I needed for my Mum wasn't in stock, as she is always needing books to organise all the things she has to do - a lot of mum's do with children going to school, events, work committments, and general family life. And what better was to keep track of all those things than with a beautiful, personal, vintage style book in the first letter of their name. This is a definite present idea I would suggest to everyone!
For a mother who is indecisive, or is very fashion-conscious of what colours go together, this is the perfect present. The watch comes with ten different coloured-patterned ribbons, which you tie in a bow around the wrist to fasten (which also means they can be bought for a massive variety of shaped and sized mum's without having to worry or take it to a jewellers to get resized! It's such an interesting way of wearing a watch and the patterns you get are very appropriate for the Spring and Summer, as well a a few darker colours for the colder months, therefore it will be a beautiful gift that your Mum can wear all year around. The watch battery is also included, which is also a bonus and the vintage style box that you can keep the watch in is so adorable and will look great of any dressing table!
Photograph frames are always a favourite of mine for personal gifts, as what could be more personal than a beautiful frame which holds a memory that's dear to the person you are giving it to. There are so many photograph frames out there which have sentimental words on them, especially for mother's day. What I like about these is that, while not having sentimental words all over them, they can still be lovable. The thick frames mean you can put more than just pictures in - why not create a collage with a number of pictures or bits and bobs from your times together with your Mum? For £12.95 you can get the standard brass frame, which is a 4 x 6 frame, but there are a variety of sizes available. What I also love about these is the antique look they have about them.
Bath bombs may seem like a generic present, but these chocolate scented bath bombs rich in cocoa butter, shea butter and essential oils are a luxury version of the classic bath bomb. In the set of six bombs, you get a variety of different looking items which represent food items such as cupcakes, chocolates and desserts. For mothers who could do with a relaxing evening, or even for mothers who are avid bakers as something other than cookery or kitchen implements, this will make a nice, different, sort of present.
This silver plated bangle is so adorable, and you can personalise it with your own message, which is a fantastic gift idea for anyone, not just for mother's day. I really like the twist in the bangle too, which gives it something extra than being just a normal looking bracelet. While it's not solid silver, just plated, the thought is most definitely there, and will be much more appreciated with a personal message than just a plain silver bracelet! You can also get it gift wrapped, which is always a bonus.
These 'not so straight' bottle vases are really unique and will be a fantastic present idea, especially if you have a Mum who likes unique gifts and items for the home. You can get these bottles in a variety of sizes, and get discount for ordering them in packs (of two or more) and they are also available in a variety of colours; pastel blue, turquoise, orange, red, green and pastel grey - personally the pastel blue is my favourite, especially when combined with the grey for a modern look.
I got one of these for my Mum as a filler present because I think they are such a lovely sentimental idea. Each bag contains a number of small, seemingly insignificant items, until it is explained on the tag. They consist of a plaster (to heal you when you get hurt), a love heart sweet (to know you will always be loved), a piece of string tied in a bow (to know that you will always have something to hold it all together in hard times), a rubber (to rub out all the bad memories), a diamond (to know you are considered special), a marble (for when they start losing theirs), a lucky bean (to wish you good luck and fortune), a coin (so you will never be completely broke), a star (to wish upon and wish all your dreams come true), a paperclip (to help you keep organised) and a kiss (for love). I think this is such a brilliant present, especially if you are an older daughter or son giving something to your Mum, and for £5 it's the perfect thing to add to any present.
I got one of these for my Mum too. They are so simple, yet will be a fantastic present idea for anyone who is into bird watching, or just sitting in the garden watching the time go by on the occasional day and catching birds feeding from the feeders from time to time. I think the idea of having them as a teacup is really intriguing, and might attract other wildlife to the garden too, not just birds. I like the range of colours you have available as well (pink and yellow floral, blue floral, ruby red floral and pink floral) as you can also make it a good birthday present for anyone, whatever gender or colour preference! I went with the ruby red floral as I think it stands out best against the foliage.
